Little Presto is BIG on Fun, Rhythm, Beat and Sounds for MIGHTY MUSICIANS aged 3-6 years!

We all know small children LOVE to make a noise!

Have your pots and pans been fashioned as drums? Have you filled a plastic bottle with rice to make a maraca? How many times has your umbrella been used as a guitar by your budding little rock star?

Put on your toddler’s favourite program or song and they’ll clap their hands to the music, smile and bounce about to the beat and sing along, in their own unique way!

As parents we also instinctively use music to calm and soothe our children, to express love and joy, and to engage and interact with them.

Music is a wonderful gift, once you’re introduced to music, it’s with you for life. It’s pure joy, escapism, self-expression and just plain fun. BUT, music is the gift that keeps on giving. Learning and developing music skills at a young age does far more than you might realise.

Music Helps Improve Academic Skills

Maths, English and Physics are all closely linked with music. By understanding beat, rhythm, and scales, children are learning how to divide, create fractions, and recognise patterns. Annunciating lyrics and sounds helps supports their understanding of phonics and music also introduces basic physics. For example, plucking the strings on a guitar introduces children to how vibrations can result in sound..

Music Helps Develop Physical And Social Skills

The very nature of tapping along to a beat reinforces a great sense of co-ordination. Tapping a triangle, playing keys on a keyboard, hitting drums – all these actions are naturally cultivating motor skills.

Playing with sounds and beats is even more fun alongside siblings and friends. Whilst there might be a few discussions over who gets to be the lead singer, children are learning how to work as a team, interact and support each other all in an uninhibited, creative way.

There is nothing more rewarding for a child than to feel they have achieved something good, encouraging their efforts in any area boosts their self-esteem and promotes their desire to do well.
