Altrincham is an affluent commuter town a few miles out of Manchester. The leafy suburbs are home to 5 grammar schools amongst its 8 secondary schools, several of which have specialist status. Presto Music are very proud to have taught and be teaching many students from the area.
Altrincham is known for its vibrant market which treats its visitors to something new every week; from home furnishings, plants and flowers one week to freshly prepared artisan food, gifts, cards and vintage fashion the next. Surrounded by a range of eateries and coffee shops, it’s the perfect place to while away a few relaxing hours.
Presto’s hub is situated in the local community centre a short walk from the centre of town. Lessons for our Altrincham students are currently being delivered via our Remote Learning System but face-to-face lessons will return just as soon as we are able.
Several pop stars have emerged from Altrincham and surrounding Trafford areas including Morrissey – former front man for The Smiths, David Gray – singer/songwriter whose album, White Ladder was the best selling album of the 2000’s, lead singer of Jamiroquai – Jay Kay and John Squire – guitarist with The Stone Roses.
The Goose Green festival which takes place over the August Bank Holiday showcases headline acts and talent from many unsigned bands. Altrincham also has 2 theatres, a cinema, several parks including the 18th-century Dunham Massey Hall, park and gardens; football, hockey and rugby clubs and there are many scenic walks and spots along it’s waterways – the River Mersey and Bridgewater Canal.
Altrincham is well connected via the regions main motorway networks and serviced by trains and/or trams in and out of neighbouring towns including Sale, Manchester, Stockport and Chester.
Altrincham Train and Bus Station are 0.5 miles from Presto’s Music School.
