Presto Music School Tuition Fees

Our Award-Winning Music School offers school based classes in small, fun groups which last between 30-45 minutes depending on age. We also offer Remote Lessons (subject to availability) which are taught online.

Students learn alongside class mates of a similar age and ability and are encouraged to interact as much as suits them. Our tutors are trained to nurture and understand individual needs so that all students feel comfortable. Our lessons are packed with fun, tailored ways to help every student learn in a way that suits them.

Classes take place from 4pm weekdays and Saturday mornings, so there are a number of class times available each week for each instrument we teach. To discuss class availability please contact the Presto Team on 01925 577715 or click here:  Enquire about Lessons.

How Do I Pay For Lessons?

All lesson fees are payable by the calendar month in advance. Entry level membership at Presto entitles you to one weekly lesson on the same day at the same time each week. There are no additional charges when there are 5 weeks in the month and lessons run all year round with the exception of a short break at Christmas.

Your first month’s lesson fees are payable by Cash, Credit/Debit Card or Lesson Gift Voucher which can be purchased from our Head Office 01925 577715. Following this, all music lesson fees are payable by monthly Direct Debit and you may choose from three convenient payment dates - the 1st, 10th or 20th of the month. There is no minimum sign-up period so you are never committed to lessons for more than one month at any time.

Do Parents Need To Attend Their Child’s Classes?

Your child’s first lesson is the most important lesson of all. In this session we outline the key foundations for ensuring their musical success and explain your essential role in this process. It is therefore very important that parents attend the first lesson with their child. Following this lesson, we actively encourage all children to attend their lessons without a parent which helps develop their independence and confidence. Your child’s teacher will keep you updated regularly with their progress and wherever your assistance is required they will discuss how you can help.

Should you wish, parents are able to learn alongside their children, in our very popular Parent & Child classes, Little Presto (age restrictions and charges apply). For details and prices, please contact us.

Student Reports, Tracking And Communication

The A4 sheets attached to the inside front cover of the student’s books is their progress tracker. This invaluable document is very similar to that which we use internally to track students progression through the Presto Course systems / Rockschool syllabus. Everything from technical exercises and performance pieces to aural training and theory are covered.

These documents are a checklist for your teacher to tick off the level of completion of each element within the course. The version that each student is given is relevant to the specific level within the syllabus that they are at.

Every student will be able to make great use of these tracking forms, whether they are just 4 years old and playing for fun, through to our Diploma Students and everyone in between. Once the entire form is complete then the student can take either of the following steps:

  • Simply have the tracking sheet signed off by the teacher and move on to the next grade
  • Take an assessment at that level with one of the senior teaching team
  • Sit the relevant grade exam at the end of the book

Please note that assessments are not intended to take the place of exams, far from it in fact. Assessments help the students with short-term goal setting as they are designed to be taken quarterly, all of which are optional, you could do them annually or not at all should you wish. For more information on Tracking, Communication and Exams please click here.

How Long Does It Take To Be Able To Play Properly?

This is very simple. The more time you can invest in your lessons and practice, the quicker you will progress. We will teach you a wide range of unique development techniques designed to maximise your musical potential. You’ll be carefully set tasks, tailored to you as an individual, record your improvement on a weekly, monthly and annual basis and demonstrate how you can easily boost your progress.

We have progressed students from complete beginner level to professional within the space of three years. It’s down to you...

I’m An Adult, Am I Too Old To Start Learning?

Without a shadow of a doubt, the answer to this question is No! The human mind develops over time as does the way in which you take on board new information. Our team of highly trained tutors are all experts in both adult and early-years learning. You may be surprised to learn that around a third of the people we teach every week range from the age of 18 to 75! Many of our adult success stories include students who have gone on to become professional musicians and teachers.
