The Magic of Music For All

At Presto Music, we are committed to making music accessible for all.

All children learn in different ways. Our award-winning tuition systems, both in-person and online, mean that it has never been easier to get professional, qualified music lessons that work for you.

Over the last 20 years, we have nurtured thousands of students to develop their musical skills. From simply playing for fun, right through to beyond Degree level and even teacher training.

So how does the magic of music benefit the student – including even those who may be neurodivergent?

Music supports cognitive, emotional, and social growth in ways that align with their unique neurological profiles. Here are the key benefits:

1. Boosts Brain Plasticity

Music promotes neuroplasticity, helping the brain form new connections. Extensive international research has been conducted, including our own at Presto (having taught over 18,000 students), which demonstrates empirical evidence that music makes you smarter. Our students who progress in their musical studies have higher scores across other subjects too.

Music is especially supportive for students with ADHD, autism, or other conditions where neural processing may be atypical.

2. Enhances Focus and Attention

Music provides structure that can help all students improve concentration and task engagement. This works through rhythmic patterns, melodic and harmonic structures, practice ideas and exercises that improve attention span from a matter of seconds through to long-term goals.

3. Supports Emotional Regulation

Music is a powerful outlet for emotional expression and regulation. Students of all levels and abilities can enjoy music both passively and actively as a calming tool, to manage sensory overload and emotional distress.

4. Improves Memory and Cognitive Skills

Music strengthens memory, pattern recognition, and problem-solving. It also helps improve motor skills – from fine to large – through activities like playing instruments which require multi-hand / limb control and hand-eye coordination.

5. Develops Social Skills

Group music activities encourage teamwork, communication, and empathy. This provides an alternative way for students, especially those with varying levels of social anxiety to connect socially.

If you are a parent, Head Teacher, Music Teacher or governor, keen to harness proven music methods to enhance music education for all children including those with more complex needs, get in touch to arrange a meeting with our management team who will be happy to help.
